AWC Mom Squad is hosting a two-part speaker series to help members and their families navigate the UK schooling system. The options and choices are seemingly endless and can sneak up on families new to the system. If you have any questions these sessions can help!

The first session will be a quick review of the schooling system, intake years and the options available. The conversation will be via Zoom, and questions can be on or before October 25 to ESDonnlly@outlook.com. Spouses of members are encouraged to join, and the session will be open to our fellow FIWAL and FAWCO group members.

The second session will be determined based on areas that members are interested in exploring further. The second session is scheduled for November 23rd at 7pm.

Whether you have a toddler or teenager we’ll try to cover as many member queries as possible!

Introducing our experts:

Grace Moody-Stuart: Director, Consultancy

Good Schools Guide

Grace is Director of Consultancy at the Good Schools Guide ensuring that parents who are looking for help on any aspect of their child's education get the best possible advice and support.

During the course of her 20 year career at the Good Schools Guide, she has visited many UK schools to review them for the Guide as well as advising and working with countless parents from all over the world, including the US.

With four children of her own who have attended, at various times, both state and independent schools, boarding and day, in and outside London, she understands how overwhelming the UK system can be, even to someone who understands it as well as she does.

She loves education, and it is in her blood. She grew up at Windlesham House School in West Sussex where her parents were joint heads and which was founded by a direct ancestor in 1837. Educated at Bedales school and Cambridge university she practised as a Barrister for 10 years until finding her dream job at the Good Schools Guide.

Mary Langford, Director

She has over 40 years’ experience in almost every area of international school life. She has also been a consultant advising international families seeking school placements in the UK and abroad.

In 2012, as an independent consultant, Mary worked for two years with four founding parents to open the new Halcyon London International School, the first not-for-profit international IB World School (MYP and DP) in Central London, and through ILLTC managed Halcyon’s mother tongue language programme for its first two years. Since 2007 Mary has worked as an Education Consultant with the Good Schools Guide specialising in international and bilingual education.

Mary is a wealth of information on the various options for international school choices in the UK and has helped countless US families navigate school choices.
