Spotlight On AWC Charities

Every year the Board of the AWC of London selects several charities as ongoing recipients of our volunteer and fundraising efforts. They are chosen on the basis of administrative efficiency and their commitment to women and children. Every month our Board liaison will keep us up to date on the various ways that we can donate our time and other resources.

Our 2008/2009 Charities are:

Ronald McDonald House
Guy's Hospital

Once a month we gather a group of our members to prepare a meal for
the guests of the Ronald McDonald House. These are families of seriously
ill children who are being treated at the Eveline Children's Hospital. The
families truly appreciate and gain comfort from the caring touch that these
home cooked meals provide.

We count on your donations of food and time to help make these meals a success. Some of the ways you can help are:

• Meet at the AWC Office with some of the menu ingredients and travel
with us to the Ronald McDonald House to prepare the meal. You can
also meet us at the house if that is more convenient.
• Drop off food at the AWC Office if you are unable to join us at the house.
• Make a monetary donation in any amount. Even a few pounds would
help us in the purchasing of food or other supplies needed for this
project.

The dates for these events will appear in the weekly e-mails. If you would
like to help out in any way, please contact either Robin MacDonald:
rmacdonald55@hotmail.com, or Sue-Anne Norrick:
sanorrick@gmail.com. They will then contact you to let you know what's
on the menu and what you can bring to help.

Cancer Research UK

AWC is proud to be offering our support to Cancer Research UK, the world's leading independent organization dedicated to cancer research and the leading fundraiser of cancer research in the UK.

We support this organization by volunteering at Cancer Research UK events to help make sure the events run smoothly, safely and successfully. Watch for our JUST ONE DAY e-mails with notices of upcoming events for which you can volunteer and help support this very worthwhile charity.
